This restaurant is a gem in Unley. Tasty food was served and we had a great time there. We tried the chef's special - curry goat, the meat was tender and the curry was superb! The atmosphere was very comfy with soft music. Highly recommended.

I genuinely enjoyed the food however was appalled at how I and my friend were treated. We ordered over the phone and placed our order based on the details advertised on their online menu from their website. We realised later in the night we had been charged essentially double what we should have. When I tried to clarify over the phone I was told they hadn't updated their website in 7 years. She said sorry and tried to dismiss me because this happens sometimes with other customers. We were not offered a discount on our next order to make up for the false and misleading claims on their website. They also didn't not give us a refund to honour the prices advertised on their website. My friend went into the restaurant the next day to see if they could actually check that we were even charged correctly and they dismissed him just saying sorry again. This service isn't acceptable. I have reported them to the ACCC for false and misleading claims as it is illegal. A business should honour what they advertise and then seek to fix/resolve the problem so it doesn't happen again.

We looked at their menu online and called the restaurant to place our take away order instead of placing the order online. We thought we were charged $50 but noticed later in the evening we were charged $90. When we called to clarify we were told they had increased their prices but hadn’t updated their website for 7 years! When I said this isn’t reasonable she just said sorry. When I further said I wasn’t pleased there was no compensation or solution offered she again just said sorry. She didn’t even find our actual order to double check we weren’t actually accidentally overcharged…. So even though we enjoyed the food we feel really taken advantage of. We see now that other people have also mentioned they were overcharged here.

Had a wonderful evening here with three friends. Food was fabulous, the Pinot Gris was excellent, the host/owner was witty and knowledgeable. Will definitely come back, many times. ——— Months later: Have been back many times. Owner Wen and her chef are wonderful. I lived for two years in Penang in the 80s and eat kway teoh every night from the food carts. I have been searching for authentic kway teoh in Adelaide ever since. Chu’s dish is absolutely authentic, the first I’ve found in Adelaide. I’m so happy! -—— 2023 Just had the roast duck dish. WOW! I’ve never had duck taste so good! The food here, and Wen’s care and service, is why my partner and I return here again and again. Seriously, if you want top-notch Asian food, Chu’s is the place. ---- July 2023 The restaurant has changed hands, but it is wonderful to see Wen, the previous owner, still helping out every now and then, and it’s wonderful to still experience sensational food. The Kway Teoh is still the best in Adelaide (and I’ve visited many Asian restaurants in an attempt to find a restaurant that replicates the maccan cart takeway Kway Teoh I used to scoff down when I lived in Penang). And the duck is still out of this world. Normally in an Asian restaurant the duck that’s served up is tiny, like a smattering of flavour, one or two very small pieces. The roast duck from Chu’s fills the plate with innumerable very large and tasty, beautifully cooked pieces. I’m guessing the kitchen staff have stayed with the new owners, because the quality hasn’t dropped at all.

Have been coming here for about 4 years. Beautiful food. Wen is always so welcoming.
